7 Amazing Essential Oils For Your Child’s Skin, Hair, And Nails

We’re becoming more and more aware of the use of essential oils. Of course, these oils have been around for a very long time, but it certainly seems that they’re having somewhat of a resurgence recently. That’s a good thing for everyone because they have some fantastic benefits!

It’s entirely possible to use essential oils on babies, but you shouldn’t use them on babies less than 3 months of age. You should also make sure that you dilute them with a carrier oil because they’re more than a little potent!

There are some essential oils that shouldn’t be used on babies and children, but below you’ll find 7 of the best to help promote healthy skin, hair, and nails.

Bergamot

Not only does it smell pretty fantastic but this essential oil is perfect for skin. It helps to fight bacterial acne in older children but it also has a large amount of linalool within it, which is useful for helping to soothe skin that may be a little irritated.

Gentle Baby

Not an essential oil per se, but this is a type of essential oil blend which is very useful for babies. It contains a mixture of various oils, containing ylang ylang, lavender, and geranium to name just a few. It has the most wonderful scent but it’s also very good for skin and relaxation.

Ylang Ylang

You’ll find this particular essential oil contained in many products generally but when used diluted it’s very useful for skin and hair growth. Again, it smells dreamy but it will help to moisturize and soothe skin while strengthening growing hair.

Lavender

This is a great all-rounder essential oil to have in your home. It’s ideal for soothing an irritated baby but it’s also great for the skin. Containing antibacterial and microbial properties, lavender is good for irritated scalps too.

Pachouli

Another delightful smelling oil. This particular oil is great for calming inflammation and for any irritated or dry skin. It’s also a great oil for lifting mood so while you’re using it, be sure to breathe in the delicious scents!

Jojoba

Jojoba oil is great for moisturizing skin but it’s also a very good oil for nails too. It’s a good moisturizer for dry cuticles and because it’s high in vitamins B and E, it’s also good for strengthening nails in general.

Sesame

While sesame oil isn’t an essential oil per se, it can be used as a carrier to dilute pure oils. It also has some pretty great benefits too. Again, it’s great for moisturizing skin and nails but it’s also high in fatty acids so it’s great for nail growth in general.

Using essential oils safely means you and your baby both grab the benefits in the most natural of ways.
